The waste management center is located in the Municipality of Jesenice, adjacent to the Mala Mežakla landfill. To carry out the public service of processing mixed municipal waste, the investor has constructed several facilities: a closed facility for mechanical waste treatment, a canopy with boxes for biological and physicochemical treatment, and auxiliary buildings of the center. The center complements the existing activities of waste collection and disposal and separation of useful fractions, to ensure the reuse of useful parts of waste and reduce the amount of waste that needs to be permanently disposed of. Environmental permits and environmental consent were obtained for the project.
